I am missing my favorite bike shorts and my favorite socks I wear with bike shorts a lot. This missing combo worries me as I keep thinking that maybe somewhere I will find a really icky duffel bag.

I am going to take TWO DAYS OFF. Glorious.

I am very tired.

I am I said.

What is your crappiest, sappiest 70s song ever? We were having this discussion at dinner as to which one is treacly perfection, and the one they came to a consensus on was one I never heard of.

08:53 pm - Total Consciousness
So I was walking into the grocery store tonight behind these two guys, about twenty something, and they were the happiest grocery shoppers ever. I catch the last part of their conversation "...so I've got that going for me." And then they both finished off (and I did too in my head) "Which is nice."

I just find it endearing how many men can quote that movie even if they were born after it came out.

Help me, of flist! This name sounds so familiar and it's driving me crazy and now that new movie is mucking up searches for it and simultaneously putting it infront of my face. But it sounds like the name of some character on a show like the X-Files or Supernatural that was involved in some case a while ago. Like an Adena Watson or just, you know, some name of some character that we search for or about, but never really meet.

06:42 pm - Love You, Cowville
My mother is off doing the sort of thing I love her for (zip lining was mentioned), so it left my Sunday free of things to do. OK, not true, I have plenty of work to do, but it was 81 degrees and sunny and a bike ride is a must!

I love me my Schuylkill River Trail. Where else can I bike twenty miles one way on trails. (We won't talk about the Manayunk issue.) But I grow bored and I want more! So today, I took off on the Cross County trail where it hooks up with the SRT. And it's only 3 miles for now (and ends most abruptly at Chemical Rd and Germantown Pike) but I have seen a map and there are plans to complete it in less than four years. And it will hook up with so much stuff that's already there. I will never get bored again!

So the Cross County trail is nice and shaded for the first half mile or so. Then it runs along the Blue Route where you can hear the traffic, but you can't see it. And then it goes through Box Store Heaven. Ikea, BJs, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc. So there are a lot of stops on a Sunday for people entering and exiting, but those people were pretty awesome in waving me on so I didn't have to unclip. And one young woman yelled out her window that she really liked my bike. :)

(OMG, TextWrangler has an unmatched parentheses detector! I will never leave them hanging again!)

I kind of want to move to those big condo buildings in Conshohocken so I can be connected to the world. But seriously, once I solve the Phoenixville issue (And I think I can do that this summer) I can go from the Art Museum to like freaking Pottsville (home of Yuengling). This is just amazing to me. And I have to go figure out the best way to get more studies funded so my home can be connected up to the trail network. If this keeps up, I just might scrap my plans to move to Colorado.

Oh, and I came TWO INCHES from running over a ground hog or some LARGE, BUT NOT TOO LARGE furry animal. I think my cardio was all taken care of right then and there.

And I clearly need a 2nd bike because I want to go on ALLL the trails, not just the paved ones.

(new version of Text Wrangler also has automatic spell checker turned on and is just not good with the names in Pennsylvania.)

Oh and speaking of cowville, there was a BABY cow all alone in the field today. I couldn't see any other cows in that section and I wondered if he maybe fell asleep and then woke up and they all were gone and he was sad and lonely and confused and then I thought maybe it was an evil cow, just born pure evil from the 8th dimension and they banished him. And both thoughts made me sad for poor lone cow in meadow.

12:01 am - Root Root Root for the Home Team
What with the impending rain and the Flyers doing important things across the street, the Ticket Fairie bestowed on me a ticket to the Phillies game tonight! And the Flyers sucked anyway and the weather was PERFECT. 65 degrees, but that warm 65 and not humid or damp or anything. Perfect night for a ball game.

The Phillies were entertaining, blowing their four run lead in the most hilarious botched run down play I've seen since watching little league. Oh Sillies! And the Phanatic danced in my section. And I sat next to two girls eating crab fries from Chickie and Petes. (I can no longer get crab fries there as it will take about four innings to get through the line. Seriously. So I just resort to smelling other people eat them. It works.) It was a good night.

11:10 pm - SPARGEL
My one colleague likes to tell of the time that while his sister was away at boarding school, his family moved to another house on the base without telling her. He reminded me of this story today when I walked into my heretofore known as OLD office. All of my group had moved buildings while I was away. at least I got an email about it on Friday.

But to make matters worse? My grocery store is all switched up too! I can't find anything there.

So Germany was lovely. I get this weird thrill/panic feeling when I sit back and realize that I am the face of my company to the customer and people let me do this. Weird. I am also grateful to the one Spaniard in the group for also needing an English menu in the restaurant to not make me feel like a dork that the whole meeting was conducted in English for my benefit.

Speaking of food, I got to Germany JUST IN TIME to experience Spargel Mania with a side order of Strawberries. What is Spargel Mania? My term for the overwhelming SPARGELNESS happening all around me.

Spargel is asparagus and as near as I can figure, only the white asparagus not the green. (well maybe the green, but no one ever mentioned it or served it or anything.) The country side is litter with field after field of Spargel. And there are makeshift stands that pop up on the roadside selling Spargel and Strawberries. (sometimes just Spargel. it is THAT POPULAR.) And not just roadside farmer's stands. It is being sold from a stand in the parking lot of the Real (aka like a Target or Wal Mart.) It is being sold inside the Real. It is on the specials board of every restaurant and on the special hand out. In SO MANY WAYS. Spargel cream soup. Spargel and Schintzel. Spargel and everything imaginable. Spargel Spargel Spargel.

And you know what? It was yummy!

Also? I scored another empty row for me on the way home. Traveling in comfort!

obFanContent: Am going to see Avengers on Wednesday.

Dear self, please stop watching movies on planes that you are fairly certain will make you cry. Especially when you should be sleeping. I was doing ok, watching my travelogue for Hawaii aka The Descendants when there was one little gesture at the end that set me off. Luckily Mr I've got more muscles and hair product than you -clearly a would be seat encroacher - found a new seat to move to, so I am alone in my weeping in the darkness of row 37. I do love the soundtrack though.

09:32 pm - Titles Are Hard
The other week (in the middle of season two) I and my bad eyes realized that the title cards to Cougar Town CHANGED every week. And now in a great procrastinating move, I have searched out to find them all, and instead, I realized that it started in season two. So my eyes aren't that bad.

But my great search has led me to find out that I am not the only one who thinks the title is stupid! The last one I watched said, "We pretend COUGAR TOWN is called Wine Time."

These other title cards referencing said title make me laugh and laugh and laugh.

And then in my search, I came across an interview with Kevin Biegel who is a man after my heart.

And also, not to sound like an asshole, but I kind of like that our title is so awful! We're just going to own it, you know? I love people coming up with new titles, but fuck it! It's called "Cougar Town!" It's the stupidest title ever! What, am I going to run from it? When I'm dead and dying, am I going to be proud because I changed the name to "Wine Time"? Who gives a fuck? I want to go down saying, "The name of the show is 'Cougar Town.'" We pulled up in the bus tonight, and it said, "Cougar Town Party Bus," and I'm like, "That's so much better than 'Wine Time Party Bus.' No one gives a fuck about 'Wine Time.' 'Wine Time' is the lamest, weakest name. "Cougar Town" is so stupid that if you think it's about her fucking young guys, I don't care. People have found us and embraced us despite the horrible, horrible title. I think the discussion about the title is totally over, totally done.

++++

So, yes, I find Cougar Town utterly heartwarming and it makes me laugh and makes me cry and reminds me of Community.

++++

PS: The Phillies are not utterly heartwarming. I get home from work and they are up 4-0. Now they are tied. SIGH.

+++

You know what else is hard? BLURBS! But Operation Club Vivid Vid was SO SUCCESSFUL. If you want to be amused, you too should google Club Vivid and then picture what would happen if all the other Club Vivid Going People out on the internets came to YOUR Club Vivid instead of THEIR Club Vivid. That is why I will never bookmark the vividcon site. I wouldn't want to remove this source of amusement.

11:23 am
The other day, I saw a moving truck that said, "Two Guys and a Truck Movers" and there was even a picture on the side of two guys in the cab. But then, I see the actual cab? THREE GUYS. This is unsettling and raises so many questions.

+++

I am watching Blue Bloods, as I do on a weekend morning. Danny and Jackie are my favorite part of the show (even eclipsing Tom Selleck. I know.) Then Tom Selleck. Then Linda. And then everyone else. However, it's not subtle and I do not like where the foreshadowing is leading.

++++

12.5 hours until Club Vivid vids are due. I've got a half gallon of ice tea left, chips and salsa and a go to attitutde. (And it's 70 degrees and sunshiney and perfect biking weather. DOH!)

09:30 pm - FESS UP!
Do you ever walk through your work parking lot after hours, where it's late and there are very few cars left and you pass one JUST LIKE YOURS and you think, "WOW, SOMEONE HAS A CAR JUST LIKE MINE!!! HOW COOL!!!" and you keep going to where you normally park, but your car isn't there...and you see where this is going, right? Cause it's not just me, right?

11:23 pm - Wintertime Blues in a Springtime State of Mind
I am glad I read GoFugYourself because I found out that My Favorite Arrow Shooting Superhero was on Hart of Dixie this week (last week? recently?!) I will have to go accidentally watch on purpose!! I have been craving him.

In other news, I was chatting about Groundhog's Day episodes with my sweet coworker dude, and we get to Supernatural's and he says, "You know for a show about two guys, it's not boring." And I give him a look and he goes on, "I usually like to have a woman in there to hold my attention, but Sam and Dean are entertaining on their own. Unusual!" (And then he goes on to tell me about how he likes the episodes with Cas too because he finds him comforting.)

The Pennsylvania Primaries can not come soon enough. There is only one local race apparently (or one contested at the primary level and who has enough $$$ to buy an ad for Comcast Sports Net channel which broadcasts the Phillies games.) One ad for each side broadcast every 2 innings. All week long.

Speaking of which, two weeks ago, I was perusing the channels and trying to decide between Phillies and Flyers, and I said, "Oh, the Flyers are just in beginning of round 1 of playoffs. It is WAYYYY to early on to start watching them. I better go turn on the Phillies instead." And then I LAUGHED AT MYSELF. But 162 games of something you are interested in is a lot shorter than 50 billion weeks of hockey playoffs where you only care when it really matters because you have to put limits on your bandwagonning.

And as it turned out, I made it to neither than night as I was flipping down through the channels, I saw Derek Morgan's name come up on the TV guide and I said, "oh, let's go visit Criminal Minds instead!" and I did. And bought a song by The Fray courtesy of the show.

06:53 am

Today was supposed to be first organized ride of the year. It is fifty degrees and supposed to be apocalyptic raining in a few hours. I am going back to bed even though there is a vague chance I could ride like five miles before it actually rained on me. Riding wet in the summer is one thing. I think today would be an exercise in misery. I'm not even gonna pop over and get my tshirt.

I was describing someone at work the other day and I said, "He looks like that kid on Bones" and by kid, I mean Sweets. AND THEN I FELT OLD cause I called Sweets a kid.

And then tonight, Jamie Moyer became the oldest dude to win a major league baseball game at age 49. And he's older than my oldest brother! A fact that we remind him of every time Jamie does well. "So Barkleybrother, I see you complaining of aches and pains in your knees...Oh, Jamie just threw a strike." Jamie-baiting is becoming my favorite part of baseball these days.

09:17 pm - Bike Ride from Hell
That was the most disgusting bike ride I've ever taken I think. Picture swarms and swarms of gnats. And now picture more of them. They sound like sleet when they hit your helmet.

They say you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friends' noses. You can, however, pick gnats out of your friend's eyeballs. That is what friends are for. That and the hiding the dead body thing. However, I am STILL rubbing at it even hours after my friend rid my ocular region of dead gnats.

Also, here is a question to keep you up at night. Click here

I am fairly certain this is how Community started too. Someone like, say, [info]sisabet, makes a festivid about something. And then said subject of said vid goes far (or wins) Fandom March Madness, and then I watch an episode or two just to see what everyone's on about and next thing I know I am wolfing them down like there's no tomorrow.

(And because I can't be all Cougar Town all the time.)

Signed,

11:53 pm - The One Where I Cry!
So when did Cougar Town become my go to show for crying? Isn't it supposed to be a comedy? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. And I shouldn't even like it because they took Krista Miller whom I adored on the Drew Carey Show and on Scrubs and was most of the reason I was watching this, and they made her terribly mean and unlikeable, and yet...I LOVE IT SO even Mean Ellie.

Signed,

Just watched the one where Laurie confesses to Jules aka "The Damage You've Done."

08:44 pm - Thursday Night and the Living is Good
I've got rock shrimp tempura, fish eye pinot grigio, Community coming up on the TV, the Phillies won their season opener (courtesy of the fact that I wore my kickass socks) and my mama achieved some health goals today. Does life get any better?

So I've watched the first two episodes of Touch and Awake and they both have many of the same elements, and they both skirt around the laws of physics so much that they might as well not exist, but the one makes me intrigued and the other makes me annoyed so I am dropping it.

I love patterns, I love the world being made up of probabilities, but there is no way that those probabilities spell themselves out like that to the kid who can predict the future. And if he's not predicting the future, it's like predeterminism, and while I cheerfully embrace that in a time travel scenario, I am just not into it here.

More about Awake and Touch with just very vague spoilers at to what happened in the first two episodes )
